Recycling is the most efficient way to green up your life and that includes your clothes. BoShab Elegance is the clothing and décor style most Frugalitarians opt for.
It’s an artistic, mix of staple pieces and accessories achieved by beautifully marrying two wonderful styles: worldly, eclectic Bohemian and comfortably, worn Shabby Chic.

- Jeans are a staple and the best deals are at Goodwill. Dark, worn, skinny, wideleg—whatever your style, Goodwill has them all for under $6. I can’t imagine paying full price for jeans when you can get them for next to nothing.
- Scarves and jewelry can be found at great consignment stores. Find a good one and make it your only stop for such items. Not all consignment stores are worth your repeat business. My favorite, Elite Repeat in Brookfield, WI has been my go-to place for years because the standards of cleanliness there are high, the service is unbeatable, the store is well organized and of course the prices are right. Name brand clothing often still has the tags on it and you can get beautiful pieces for a small fraction of the original cost.
- Vintage. This is where the outfit becomes a masterpiece. Whether it’s costume jewelry that belonged to your grandmother or a dress you got at a vintage store, the uniqueness of a vintage piece takes the artistic quality of your look up several notches. Vintage is an essential part of the Bohemian look.
- No matching belts and shoes. Freedom! Put on a hippie belt and some open toe turquoise sandals with your jeans and live a little!
- Something has to be chunky. It can be your shoes or your necklace or your purse. Whatever you choose, it will become the item in the spotlight. Big slouchy purses, wedge heels, a big ol’ necklace will instantly update your look. Remember that too many items disturb the peace. Only one of these chunky treasures is necessary.
